Animal Communicator Sharon Loy with Shui

We need a wiser and perhaps more mystical concept of animals… In a world older and more complete than ours they move with grace and harmony, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.”

Recommended Books and Articles on Animal Intelligence and Interspecies Communication
Animal Talk by Penelope Smith—Written by my teacher and the founding pioneer of animal communication, this book is an excellent and thorough introduction into the world of animal communication.

When Animals Speak by Penelope Smith—This book goes deeper; it is a more advanced exploration into the world of animal communication.

Animals in Spirit by Penelope Smith—This book is an in-depth look at this special topic that covers such topics as euthanasia, guilt and grieving, reincarnation, dimensions of the spirit realm, etc.  I loved this book.

7 Steps to Communicating with Animals by Carol Gurney—This is a how-to book written by my first animal communication teacher.  I highly recommend this book as well as Carol’s work as a teacher and as a communicator.  She has a very grounded, practical approach, and this is especially helpful for those who are just starting out.

Dogs That Know When Their Animals Are Coming Home by Rupert Sheldrake—Rupert Sheldrake is a scientist who has performed many experiments testing telepathy in humans.  In this book he shares fascinating anecdotes on the topic of animal intelligence and telepathy with an approach that is at the same time open-minded and cautious.

“Inside Animal Minds:  Birds, Apes, Dolphins, and a Dog with a World-Class Vocabulary”  National Geographic March 2008—A ground-breaking article that explores newly-discovered evidence of abilities and intelligence in a variety of animal species.

Animals as Teachers and Healers:  True Stories and Reflections by Susan Chernak McElroy—This is a collection of fascinating stories that illustrate the intelligence, sensitivity, and devotion of our animal friends.  It is an easy, low-commitment read, as it is easy to pick up and put down when you don’t have a lot of time to devote to reading.

Favorite Books—Enlightening
Animal Speak by Ted Andrews—This is the classic in the field of animal totem symbolism.  His list of animals is extensive, and for each entry he describes the behaviors and perceptual capacities that are the basis of the medicine each animal brings.

Animal Spirit Guides by Steven Farmer—This is an excellent quick reference guide for animal totem symbolism.  Farmer’s list of animals is more extensive than Andrews’, and his descriptions are more concise.  For depth, read Ted Andrews’ book, for breadth, choose Farmer’s.

Animal Souls Speak by Robert Shapiro—Wow, this book opened up new worlds for me.  It details the ways in which different species of animals energetically affect the planet as a whole.  It sheds new light on the extinction crisis we are currently experiencing and co-creating in our world.

Feng Shui for You and Your Cat by Allison Daniels—What a fascinating book.  Her thesis is that cats sense the flow of energy in your home and are naturally drawn to areas of stagnant chi, thereby helping clear out these areas.  After reading the book, I noticed that indeed this is true of my cats!

Favorite Books—Heart-Warming and Humorous
Disapproving Rabbits by Sharon Stiteler—Anyone who has been the guardian of a rabbit companion understands . . . .

Dewey:  The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron—This is a very touching story of a kitten found in the overnight book drop of a library in rural Iowa.  I couldn’t put it down, and of course sobbed at the end when Dewey crossed over.  It is a must read.

Dogged Pursuit: My Year of Competing Dusty, the World’s Least Likely Agility Dog by Robert Rodi—This book had me cackling my way through every chapter.  Not only is it an informative “fly on the wall” view into the world of dog agility training, but there is a point in the book where the author consults an animal communicator.  It was fun to see how this encounter deepened his understanding of and relationship with Dusty.

Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen,Marty Becker, and Carol Kline—I got this book as a gift from my sister-in-law when it first came out.  I read some of the stories to my husband when we were on a road trip and it was the first (and only?) time I have seen him cry.

The Angel By My Side by Mike Lingenfelter—This is a beautiful story of a near suicidal engineer with heart problems whose life (and belief systems) get transformed by a rescue dog named Dakota—an exceptional read.
Spiritual Growth Resources—Some of My Personal Favorites
sacredsitesjourneys.comThe owner of this company, Anrea Mikana, designs travel packages for trips to spiritual places all over the world:  Machu Picchu in Peru, the pyramids in Egypt, Stonehenge in England, etc.   The depth and breadth of her own spiritual knowledge and experience is what makes these trips special—you want to go with Andrea, because she not only knows the cool places and people and gets great rates, but her guidance helps you create your own profound connection to these sacred sites around the world.

clairvision.orgSamuel Sagan is the founder of this meditation school in Australia.  Out of his meditation practice, Samuel developed a healing modality called ISIS.  I have experienced ISIS myself and find it to be the most powerful and efficient method of clearing out old “stuff” I have ever experienced—and I have experienced a few . . . .  To find an ISIS practitioner in your area, go to the clairvision website and email the contact person requesting a list of people who are certified in ISIS.

justaskjudee.comIf you are needing a people communicator, Judee is your gal.  She is an EXCELLENT psychic, for a number of reasons.  For one, she is what I call a free will psychic, meaning she understands that though sometimes certain events are coming our way, it is our reaction to and attitude toward them that determine our destiny.  Another reason she is exceptional is that people leave her readings not only baffled by her ability and empowered to make important shifts in their life journeys, but also truly touched by her vision of their spirit.  Before I began doing animal communication full-time, I worked in a metaphysical shop in Sedona with Judee.  People would come out of the reading room saying things like, “Wow, she really GOT who I am.”  Finally, I recommend Judee’s work because for being such a tiny woman she has a huge powerful spirit, and this is simply because she is all about love and integrity.
